The most prominent significance of Laurier Woods is that it is located within city limits and very close to the downtown core. It is an important stopover space for many migratory birds and is home to some provincially significant species of animals. The combination of forest and wetlands provides excellent habitat for wildlife including 33 nesting bird species.

Summer Fawn
Deer are some of the most frequent visitors to the Laurier Woods park area. While they are not always easily seen their tracks are often fresh and very visible on the winter trails or in the summer mud.
I love turtles.
Not everyone is in a hurry around here. Taking it a little slower may also be a good idea for the rest of us. Enjoy your wetland park and smell the bulrushes.
